"We are a small independent Charity with very little resource. We have been with JLT (Youthsure) for nearly 5 years now. We initially took out insurance as the quotation they provided was cheaper than the other that we had had (Zurich) and the cover comparable. Initially everything was going really well for our club, then we had 2 claims in quick succession: one was for a replacement door where somebody had tried to break in. This was paid promptly and without an issue.
The second was an absolute disaster. The flat above our premises caught fire and as a result of the fire brigade putting this out, our premises was completely flooded. As access to our premises was restricted by the fire brigade and we couldn't ensure everything was secure, we were burgled and a lot of computers and electronic equipment was stolen. 2 loss adjusters came round and assessed the damage (one for the flood and one for the burglary) they mentioned we would now have to just wait and see what their respective reports said and it may take a few weeks.
What particularly impressed us was, at this point the broker intervened stating this was not good enough, they immediately arranged an interim payment from the insurer on credit, in order that we could get the building dried out. All of the lost equipment was replaced as new and everything put back to its original condition."
